8133192-1As an alternative to the road safety program, the Disability Sports Program offers a talk to students on disability sport including the types of sports played in a wheelchair, the similarities/differences between wheelchair sport and the able-bodied equivalent, as well as some of the challenges of competing in sport with a disability and the positives.

This program is tailored to the disability studies offered by schools as part of the PDHPE program and can include topics of your choice.

A game of wheelchair basketball is then played between the students to give them a taste of wheelchair sport.

The structure of the sessions and cost are the same as for a Road Safety Roadshow Program.

Wheelchair Sports NSW (WS NSW), formed in 1961, is a charitable organisation responsible for the development, promotion and delivery of wheelchair sport in NSW.

It all started more than 50 years ago with a few visionary wheelchair members who believed in the power of sport to rehabilitate and integrate.
