The Wheelchair Basketball Illawarra Festival, presented by Mogo Wheelchairs is an action-packed five days. There are a range of competitions and divisions, with opportunities for everyone to be involved in the festival. 

Fact Sheet

Masters Tournament
Dates: Wednesday, November 8th - Thursday, November 9th 2023  5:30 pm - 9 pm 
Venue: Shellharbour City Stadium

A social but competitive wheelchair basketball competition for players over 40 years of age. A chance for both current and former players to get on the court and have some fun. Both team and individual entries are accepted. Individual entries will be drafted into a team. Players over 50 years of age will receive a 0.5 point reduction, players over 60, a 1.0 point reduction, and players over 70, a 1.5 point reduction. 

3x3 Tournament 
Date: Friday, November 10th 2023  5:30 pm - 9 pm 
Venue: Illawarra Sports Stadium, Berkeley 

The 2023 3x3 tournament will be sponsored by Mogo, with both team and individual entries accepted.

3x3 games are structured in 10-minute games, or first to 21 points - whichever comes first. 3x3 is open to everybody and will be the main warm-up/training opportunity for teams playing in the Slam Down Under.

3x3 may include a junior division for players 14 years of age and under, subject to entries.

Slam Down Under 
Dates: Saturday, November 11th 2023 and Sunday, November 12th 2023
Venue: Illawarra Sports Stadium, Berkeley 

The Slam Down Under will be divided into three competitions. Divisions within the competition will be created based on the number of entrants. Both team and individual entries are accepted.

Slam Division 1 Elite Competition - An elite competition played under the 14-point rule. Athletes should be classifiable and capable of playing in the Basketball Australia men’s and women’s National Wheelchair Basketball Leagues or equivalent. Female/Juniors 12 and under will receive a 1-point deduction (as per Wheelchair Basketball Waratah League. 

Slam Division 2 Intermediate Competition - Played under 4/1 (Max 1 able-bodied athlete of any gender) 16-point max on court. Female/Juniors 12 and under will receive a 1-point deduction (as per Wheelchair Basketball Waratah League. 

Slam Division 3 Competition - A division for new and developing players. Male, female and mixed teams are encouraged. While this division is designed to be played under the 3/2 rule, this may be altered by the agreement of team managers prior to each match. Players in this division are new or returning players who do not necessarily participate in regular training or competition.

Number of matches and playing time are dependent on entry numbers. The draw will be released prior to the event.
