Congratulations to Adam Kellerman and Ben Weekes who have taken out the Doubles title at the ITF SW Desert Classic in Tuscon, USA.
The pair were up against Michael Foulks and John Becker in the first round doubles and had a comfortable win 6-2, 6-1. This followed with a harder semi-final match but the boys defeated Mike Denayer and Martjn Legner 6-2, 7-5. They then went onto win the doubles final in straight sets 6-4, 6-3 against Takuya Miki and Marc McCarroll. The Desert Classic is the first tournament the boys have played together in this year and also their first title for the year.
Adam won his first round singles against Mike Denayer, 6-2, 6-1 and went on to take another win against Martin Legner in the quarter finals 6-2, 6-3. He was disappointed with the intensity of his play during the singles semi-final and was defeated by world #8 Takuya Miki 6-1, 6-2.
This is the first of three tournaments Adam and Ben will compete in during their US tour. With some great results both WS NSW members are well prepared for the remaining two US tournaments and are training hard for the World Team Cup that will be held in Holland during May.
